The First Members-Only NFT Speakeasy
Back in the day a whispered password opened the door to the underground gin joint. Now? Welcome to Old Sport, the first real-world speakeasy accessible only by NFT. This token is your membership card to a bar full of dimly lit nooks and divine libations.
Old Sport membership is strictly limited to 1,920. Members and three of their friends receive access to our hidden, intimate bar in Los Angeles. There, crackerjack bartenders will put new spins on classic cocktails. No bathtub hooch, only the good stuff.
Our first speakeasy is planned to open early 2023.
The Origins
My name is Addison Kowalski. I’ve had the pleasure of designing product experiences for Disney, Star Wars, Blue Bottle Coffee, and quite a bit more. I’m also the co-founder of EightBit.Me .
I’m one of those Old Soul types. Like others who dig the music and style of the 1920s to ‘50s, I appreciate a good craft cocktail. So much so that in 2015 I designed and launched a cocktail-making app called Old Sport.
The concept was simple: Learn how to make Prohibition-style cocktails from ingredients in your home bar.
The night I released my little app I celebrated with a few friends. We gathered in my modest apartment in Los Feliz, where I spent the evening making drinks and playing records by Artie Shaw, Sidney Bechet, and Hoagy Carmichael. Once folks reached their optimum buzz, we called it a night. But as my buddy Nate was leaving, he suggested something: Why not host a drinking night like this every month?
Oh boy, I sure did.
A year and a half later, guests walked into my tiny apartment to be greeted by DJ Babyshoe spinning vinyl from the ‘20s to ‘40s. To his left was a blackjack table taking bets of a single dollar. I made cocktails non-stop beside a little TV playing classic black-and-white movies. The crowd spilled over into a friend’s apartment next door, where there was a photo booth and another bartender, Philly, fixing up drinks. A handful of times we needed even more room, so we’d commandeer different locations.
My goal was for guests to spend a memorable night back in time with dear friends. I dreamed of making Old Sport a real bar one day. Not just any old bar. Something special and exclusive. A place with a concealed entrance that invited guests to step into an exciting, unpredictable future.
That day is here. I’m excited to announce the Old Sport NFT: An exclusive society for divine cocktails.
