About the Temporary Happiness series:
This is the first of the Temporary Happiness miniature photography series from 2013. These photographs were taken in the back alley behind my first apartment in LA in Koreatown.
I wanted to play with the opposing imagery of the idealized landscape from my hometown juxtaposed in the new space I occupied. The deer and environments become islands in a foreign space that they must adapt to. I enjoyed playing with and discussing overlapping opposites in my work. I believe we live largely in the overlaps and in-betweens of these extremes.
